Denver!
THERE IS A GROSS PICTURE IN THIS POST!
(Possibly many, depending on your tastes, but ones got blood in it.)
Another Algiz pull for July 14th! And what a fun day it was! I made the mistake of trying to run 3 miles on a treadmill, which I did, but then regretted as my body said, "I can't run this high up in the sky." I proceeded to shake and nap for an hour before..
I got dressed up on my bluest and wrinklies clothes, to hit the town!
With my Second Cousins! WOOT WOOT! We painted the Big Scoot (as Denver is called) as red as the blue on my shirt and pants.
We met this guy!
He seemed like a cool guy.
We ate at a ramen joint called Osaka. All the food was great! This croquette was sweet and delcious!
My veggie ramen was super rich and delicious. Also a nice refreshing matcha green tea!
Then we walked by Coors Field, where all the Coors wells are. They pump it straight outta the ground, bottle or can it, and ship it all across the nation, to be vomited out by kings, and returned to the earth again.
Then we saw some kind of manual motorcycle gang.
And that was the day! It was very nice. But sadly, all days must end.
DENVER PT 2
The day starts great with this Tap Root beverage that has all sorts of rooty herbs and spices on top of espresso, with a good inch and half of oat milk foam.
Plus what I take to be the perfect avocado to bread ratio on an avocado toast dish. Kudos Corner Beet Cafe, or Beet Corner Cafe, whichever one made this.
Then after bailing on the botanical garden because it seemed way too crowded, I went to Weathervane Cafe to get another coffee and this delightful Matcha Chia Seed Pudding. It was exceptional.
Then while waiting for my haircut, I saw this fountain!
Here's what the fountain thinks learning is! I guess they're right, learning is mostly whispering.
Here's what the fountain thinks loyalty is! A man not wearing his helmet!
Here's what the fountain thinks love is! Some smug baby!
Margaret Thatcher gave this fountain to Denver in 1846. It's called Thatcher Fountain.
Finally, the days long wait was over, and I could finally get a haircut.
And I did, and now I look like this. Still a shame about the face, but at least I can see again!
Went on a series of runs in Washington Park. Beautiful running spot. Again, I'm out of shape and the altitude was kicking my ass, but I managed to run 3 miles. Maybe one day I can run them consecutively! (Those three Strava pics all took place within the span of an hour or so.)
Now for the bloody pics. They're not that bad, but you've been warned all the same.
----
I put my hand in my wash kit (or, since no one knows what a wash kit is apparently, a drop kit, or toiletry bag (I had to tell my story 3 times at the Urgent Care Clinic, and all three people I told just shut down when I said wash kit... like apart from the fact that that is what it's called, it should make sense in context)) and slashed my middle finger with my razor.
And got seven stitches all because it wouldn't stop bleeding, and was actually multiple lacerations since it's a razor with three razor blades in it. (And not to keep harping on the wash kit thing, but Ben Smolen also didn't know what it was! What the heck! I worked in retail the past two year, I know that's the goddamn product name, why does no one else?)
Also, I got a tetanus shot. The razor was old and gross, and my last tetanus shot was 8 years ago. A fun fact the technician told me was that they don't give stitches on things if you come in 12 hours after the incident because too much bacteria will get trapped in the wound! Fun!
Glad I went to urgent care, because this is was the alternative. It took me 45 minutes to get that first aid kit open, because I was bleeding too much. Ugh, what a day.
After getting the stitches, I went to City O City, and ate this vegan philly cheese steak thing. It was delicious, but I wish other cities would stop calling their steak sandwiches "Philly." There was nothing Philly about this, it was just a good sandwich. I'm definitely going to be craving this sandwich again at some point in my life.
And over dinner, I got to admire my not at all funny looking bandaged middle finger.
That's all for Denver! Tomorrow I go to Aspen and Albuquerque! Double A!
